Good questions
If yours isn't answered here, get in touch and an advisor will talk it through.
What services does AI Tax Advisers provide for U.S. expats?
Federal and state income tax returns, FBAR and FATCA compliance, Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) optimisation, Foreign Tax Credit strategy, delinquent filing catch-up programs, and pre-move departure tax planning for Americans living and working across Asia.
Do you help businesses with cross-border tax structuring?
Yes. We specialise in cross-border tax engineering for businesses operating between the U.S. and Asian jurisdictions: entity structuring, transfer pricing documentation, W-8BEN and W-8BEN-E filing management, Subpart F and GILTI analysis, 1042-S withholding compliance, and multi-jurisdiction tax treaty optimisation.
Is AI Tax Advisers listed by the U.S. Embassy?
Yes. American International Tax Advisers is listed on the official U.S. Embassy Bangkok list of recommended tax consultants, an independent government endorsement of our expertise in U.S. expat taxation in Thailand.
How many offices does AI Tax Advisers have?
Twelve-plus international offices across Asia and beyond: Hong Kong (headquarters), Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Manila, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Taipei, Sydney, UAE, and Florida. Real advisors in your timezone across multiple jurisdictions.
What is the FBAR and do I need to file it?
The FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) reports Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts. U.S. citizens with foreign accounts exceeding USD 10,000 in aggregate must file. We handle full FBAR compliance and can help you catch up on delinquent filings through government amnesty programs.
What is the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE)?
The FEIE allows qualifying U.S. expats to exclude foreign earned income (up to USD 120,000+ annually) from U.S. taxation. We optimise your FEIE strategy to minimise your overall tax burden while remaining fully compliant.
Do U.S. expats in Thailand pay taxes on worldwide income?
Yes, the U.S. taxes citizens on worldwide income regardless of residence. However, treaties, exclusions and foreign tax credits can substantially reduce or eliminate liability. Our advisors navigate both U.S. and Thai tax law to optimise your position.
